Proposal: *Arduino *

The Raspberry Pi and the Arduino are very similar machines. They are both small, lightweight, very customizable computers. Not to mention they even look alike. I think it would be better served to open up the RPi site to the Arduino, and any other similar computers. It would require the RPi site name to change though.

  • They are similar machines in the same way that osx and windows are just a GUI for people to use their computers. Or maybe osx and windows are just a GUI for people to use their computers :)

The Arduino is not similar to the RPi at all. For starters, the RPi runs Linux and other operating systems which the Arduino doesn't.

Beside, Arduino questions are already on-topic at EE.SE.

The Raspbery Pie is a horse of another color. Arduino is an 8bit micro-controller using an AVR chip that runs at 8 to 16mhz. Raspbery Pi is a single board PC using an ARM processor that runs orders of magnitude faster, and even runs the Linux operating system.

Arduino isn't limited to one microcontroller, although most boards appear to include one that is 8 bit. Some boards even include an ARM processor (Arduino Due) or a Wifi System on a Chip (SoC) (Arduino Yùn). Then there are the Arduino compatible things like Netduino which run various different chips.
