Proposal: Software Recommendations

Should this be part of each os's Q&A site?

E.g. if you were asking for software on ubuntu, couldn't you ask for it on Ask Ubuntu? And an android app on Android Enthusiasts? It seems a bit pointless to have a site for parts of others?

no, Software recommendations are particulary off-topic on all other SE sites. This is why I created the proposal.
