Kindof like the CB thing, but can questions regarding GMRS and FRS radios be allowed?

Proposal: Amateur Radio

Same answer as cb. Yes, they should be allowed, but not encouraged. I can't honestly see there being too many questions relating to them, but it won't hurt to take the occasional question on the subject.

In case there's any doubt as to why this should be on topic, I was assisting with an event this weekend, in which I was required to use FRS to assist with coordination. The hams were able to use ham bands, and more power, but much of the staff wasn't. Having a location to ask this kind of question that is related to the amateur radio community is helpful.

  • Well.. We might as well change the scope to "radios" in general then right? I'm not opposed to letting GMRS/FRS be on-topic, but we have to stop somewhere don't we?

I would stop at commercial /government radios, as they are very different in how the licensing process goes. But that's just my thoughts. Commented Sep 25, 2013 at 10:14
