Proposal: Maker Professionals

After a few failed attempts, we finally got enough support to give this subject a serious run. Congratulations! The proposal did a great job of attracting a lot of interest in this subject. We've had a lot of interest from organizations wondering how they could help support this community, so that's really exciting.

It's at this point that proposals really start to take off, so we typically do our final review about now to clarify both the title and description in preparation for launch. There were some concerns that the title sounded too much like your "traditional" industrial labor and machining site, and the description was a bit too detailed to use in the actual site (we'll be sure to get all those subjects listed back in the FAQ soon after we launch).

We got a lot of great feedback, and I am really excited to see this subject finally take off. All we need is one more push to get this to 100%.

Good luck and see you in the private beta!

I'm a little disappointed that after numerous rounds of gathering opinions & votes on both the name of this proposal and the description for it, these have both been changed from the consensus we reached to something few of us would recognise, with no debate or community involvement. As suggested by WillAdams I fear that the new name will discourage those amateur enthusiasts who formed the original focus for this proposal.

Incidentally, we spent a lot of effort expanding the remit of the proposed questions to make them more suitable for a wider audience, and less focussed on 3d printing, so narrowing it again significantly and alienating core supporters of the proposal a third of the way through commitment seems sub-optimal.

Thanks @Robert, I've posted my own answer on Rework the name... detailing my own issues with the change, I hope that you can take these into account.
