Disagree with an ethics site because it is entirely subjective and opinionated

Proposal: Ethics

I disagree with this proposal, I do not think it is a good idea to open up a place to discuss ethics.

My reasoning behind this is that ethics is something entirely based on opinion, and it is subjective, or personal. There is no global answer to any ethics question.

Those seeking guidance on ethics may mistake the website as actual truth and this could get them into trouble if, say, they are an adolescent and seek information about something which goes against their parents.

"The internet said" is not a way to learn ethics.

A sample question which will most likely turn up:

"Is it ethical to have an abortion?"

How does one answer this question objectively? This is not a good idea.

I disagree with your disagreement. Over 60% of what you wrote is just generalizing an could be applied to nearly all SE sites.

I never read the SE terms of use, but I'm pretty sure SE states that it comes with no warrenty and it does not intend to be the actual truth.

Ethics is a subcategory of philosophy. Ethics.SE would be an Q&A site that intends more pracital use than philosophy.SE, where they discuss meta concepts etc. But from these philosophical concepts (e. g. Kant's categorical imperative, etc.) you can derive axioms to answer ethical issues.

Of course there is not always one answer or best practice, but as long as the answers are reasonably argumented, within the context of ethics and philosophy, and not polemic, I don't see any problem.

That's not our problem. In fact they should go against their parents. Moreover, adolescents will get into trouble regardless of Ethics.SE (and they should).

I do think Ethics.SE is duplicate of Philosophy.SE because although they discuss meta-concepts, they often provide both 'yes' and 'no' answers (yes, in the same answer) and explain the underlying concept behind each one. That takes care of the 'absolute truth' you seem to be worried about.

Moreover, questions of the format 'Is doing X ethical' or 'Am I doing the right thing here' invite subjective answers, are too localized and I don't think would aid in making a good Q&A site.
