I believe that we should have a venue that is specifically dedicated to the distributed aspects of very hot topics such as:
- Intelligent vehicles
- Energy grids
- Distributed and swarm robotics
- Network sciences
- Cloud computing and other distributed IT infrastructures
- Systems biology
I know that many of the above topics already have a Stack Exchange QnA proposal right now, and I think that they are kind of struggling to make it happen. Grouping them under the same hood would most likely allow for more impact and a very interesting cross-fertilization among these various fields!
If you look at the actual implementation of these various domains, they are indeed very heterogeneous, but from a methodological and modeling perspective, they share a lot of important features: modeling tools are often similar (agent-based models, stochastic simulations, mean-field approaches, etc), and they exhibit common properties such as complexity, emergence, chaos, robustness, synchronization, concurrency, consensus.
All these important topics are not present in regular, monolithic systems.
