Proposal: Pets

There is already discussion about definition of pet: What animals should we classify as pets?

However it seems that it does not give clear answer to my question and this is why I am starting new discussion about what really could be classified as pet in context of this proposal.

Can I ask questions about my "pets":

  • Fishes
  • Frogs
  • Snakes
  • Snails
  • Lizards
  • ...

Snails Frogs Lizards

1 Answer 1

As long as they are pet snakes, frogs, lizards, etc... then yes they are on topic. Questions about snakes, frogs, lizards, et al in the wild would be off topic.

The key would be the pet aspect.

  • Situation here is somewhat complicated as it is very common to attempt to replicate environmental conditions that apply for animals of this kind in the wild. For some of them it is actually requirement instead of option. This leads to questions about their life in natural environment... Maybe it would be enough to state that these are my beloved pets :) Commented Jun 26, 2013 at 19:52
  • @SampoSarrala - I think that a question that explained that you were trying to replicate the natural environment would be enough context to make it on topic in most cases.

  • +1 It is called "pet" not "ordinary pet" or "common pet" :) The definition of "Pet" is "A domestic or tamed animal or bird kept for companionship or pleasure and treated with care and affection." so that suits it.
