Proposal: Italian Language & Usage

Will I be able to use this group for basic questions (I'm beginner, A1)? If not, is there any suitable group for that kind of discussions and questions?

I don't know whether there are any groups or sites for people who are starting to learn Italian, but I feel confident that when our proposal finally gets underway you will have the opportunity to ask your questions, however basic they may be.

As far as I know, it has not yet been thoroughly debated what features the site will have; however, I doubt that a site for learners of Italian may address educated questions only. When I visit the site for French I find questions of all kinds, and even the site for English came to the decision of splitting up, thus creating a different site for beginners of the language, only a few months ago (ELL is still in its beta phase).

I'm sure you will be welcome on the Italian site, so continue to support it and help us spread the news about it with other people who may be interested!

All of the other language sites have been for all levels; I would hate to see this one be anything less than that. Apr 13, 2013 at 18:51

The practice of existing sites is, you can ask even basic questions in English, as long as they are not easily-googlable or findable in first-class learning book.

So if the answer to your question isn't on first 5 results in Google, or the results are contradicting or misleading, the aim of SE it to provide 1-st hit in Google, which will be neither misleading nor contradicting.

  • Not sure about this, in the english one if you ask an easy question they will close it straight away!

If the group will ever grow so much that there will be too many questions per day we could think about splitting it. For the time being, I think that adding the right category to the post would be enough.
