Long time Stack Overflow user, first time Area 51'er.

My wife changed careers last year and got her license in Real Estate. This year we found that is REALLY hard to get started as there aren't many things they teach you in "real estate school" that will actually apply to your actual day to day job in real estate, such as:

  1. How to generate leads.
  2. Teams v. Solo discussions
  3. Marketing
  4. What to do now that you have your license Etc.

We were discussing an edge-case scenario she's involved in with a buyer and seller of a property, and me being a software developer immediately thought of what I would do in that situation. Checking Stack Exchange was the first thing that popped into my mind, and to my surprise there was nothing on real estate.

I think this could be a very helpful platform for agents to discourse with other agents and exchange ideas and the like in a positive online platform like Stack Exchange sites.

It took my wife 7 months to get her first sale after she got her license and even the broker she was working for wasn't doing anything to guide her or point her in the right direction and let her run with it.

I believe this could be the very best place on the internet for the murky, convoluted and often confusing world of being a real estate agent.

Of course, each state has their own law and some state reciprocate licenses so there will be some grey areas, but the internet is filled with John or Jane Doe's real estate blogs with subjective material that can confuse new agents and do more harm than good.

That being said, I propose a new Stack Exchange site be created for Real Estate.

If you have a community organized and ready to build this site, then go for it.

How can I propose a new site?

But please do not skip the requirement to find and organize a community to build your proposal first. It takes a lot of people all pushing in the same direction to get a proposal launched. Area 51 cannot find that audience for you.

Minimum number of people for a successful proposal

You will be asked to link to that community:

Please link to the organization or website organizing this effort:

If you do not yet have a community organized, ready and eager to build your site, please do not submit this proposal.

If you start your search after you submit a subject, the proposal does not have a chance.

Good luck!
