Proposal: Artificial Intelligence

...Because artificial intelligence does not go away just because this site doesn't attract enough "experts" to sustain existence for longer than a month. It is a field that exists and there still need to be questions asked and answered, after all.

Following off this thread's idea of there being seven different StackExchange sites that can answer AI questions, I built an aggregator website called StackAI that displays AI questions from six StackExchange websites (the seventh one is Stack Overflow). There's also buttons to allow you to ask your AI questions in the appropriate StackExchange site.

This tool could help those people who are interested about AI and want to learn more, without the need of an official AI site.

  • Site's fine, but the logs state that the "Free app running time quota exhausted". This site was a bit more popular than I thought it would be. So I guess I'll have to wait until Heroku gives me more time and reactivate the site so people can view it. May 8, 2016 at 23:40
  • +1 just for the initiative. That may be enough :-) how about adding sites related to neuro-science? May 9, 2016 at 7:29
  • I probably can, but it will take me some time to do so (as there is another site, "Theoretical Computer Science", that I may need to add as well). If you can tell me the name of those sites, I can evaluate them and see if they can fit. What I'm worried is that if I keep adding more and more sites to StackAI, that it will become almost impossible to navigate. I may need to implement the ability to 'search' through all questions to help deal with the 'flood'. May 9, 2016 at 23:38
  • I was thinking about CogSci and Biology. But hey, the problems you mention now are a good reason for cultivating this AI proposal: Why reinventing the wheel? Now, your StackAI could put the idea to its first test, assuming enough people see it. Thanks again for your initiative. May 10, 2016 at 1:57

Aggregators of questions across Stack Exchange sites already exist: Stack Exchange filters. May 23, 2016 at 20:38
  • Stack Exchange filters are cool, but they do so limited. These filters seems limited to display posts from only a month (instead from the beginning of the website). If a question is not recent, it'll drop off the filter. The filter do not have any inherent search functionality (so you can't search within the filter to find if someone already asked your question years ago)...although my aggregator does not have that feature either (so I will need to implement that feature too). The AI proposal has started its private beta.

However it's actually opposite, we've enough experts, but not enough good quality of questions.

During final review, we'll have clarity whether the proposal will go to the next stage.

Therefore the proposal aims:

To bring people from this one particular field, which exists in between all above in one place.

If it fails, the backup is to have 20 different accounts and ask the AI questions across the different sites such as Stats.SE, CSTheory.SE, CogSci.SE, Philosophy.SE, Worldbuilding.SE, SO.SE, CS.SE, HSM.SE, Robotics.SE, GameDev.SE, with no real AI experts focused in one place.

This is our backup plan.
