Proposal: Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair

When launching a new site, we need to come up with the web address for that site.

http://money.stackexchange.com
http://bicycles.stackexchange.com
http://writers.stackexchange.com

But what about "Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair?" We need a subdomain that is short and somewhat descriptive and memorable to the target audience.

What will work for this site?

Please suggest only one per answer. Thanks.

I like this one. Encompasses all the categories, more-or-less, while still being a bit descriptive and cute. Also suggests a design. Mar 3, 2011 at 20:59

  • This hints at the site being intended for professional mechanics. Mar 4, 2011 at 21:50
  • @Robert Would it be worthwhile to mark this answer as accepted since it appears to be the option the beta site is now using?

  • Sure. I forget sometimes that there's all that other SE functionality in here. Mar 18, 2011 at 19:20

  • To me that suggests a site relating to electric motors. Outside the UK cars are rarely referred to as motors. Mar 4, 2011 at 21:48

  • Once again, that suggests a site about electric motors, not car repair. Mar 6, 2011 at 20:48

See the definition for gearhead here

Someone who is totally into cars and is very knowledgeable about how to modify and fix them.

And yes... I'm using UrbanDictionary as an official definition source.

  • Same problem as autos.stackexchange.com - too general, which would lead to the posting of many off-topic questions. Mar 5, 2011 at 7:36

My concern is that "autos" would likely suggests a site for car enthusiasts. Mar 3, 2011 at 20:53
  • Yeah, I was just going with the name from the SE 1.0 site. I ended up voting for garage. Mar 6, 2011 at 18:33
